When Holy Spirit Interupts Your Plan

Sometimes a story surprises you.
I thought I knew what I was working on next. I already had a few chapters written and just needed to put some time in to get Book Two of The Fire and The Serpent series fleshed out. Writing a short story was nowhere on my radar, but Holy Spirit had a different idea.
In The Between pushed its way through— insistent, uninvited, and challenging. It created a tension that I just couldn’t ignore. Looking back, I recognize that this wasn’t just a story — it was a nudge.
Holy Spirit has a way of interrupting our plans to make space for the things He wants to say. He speaks in ways we don’t always expect: through people, through moments, and sometimes, through words that press so strongly on your heart you can’t help but write them down.
It’s uncomfortable at first. His leading rarely comes at a convenient time. It asks you to pause what you thought was important and pay attention to what He’s doing instead.
That was what happened with In The Between. It came barging in, demanding attention and though I tried to put it on a back burner, the more I leaned in to listen, the clearer it became. I could sense His presence guiding the words, giving shape to thoughts I didn’t know how to express.
If you’ve ever felt the Spirit prompting you toward something unexpected — to write, to speak, to create — my encouragement is this: make room for it. You may find it is exactly what needed to be said all along.
Thank you for being here — for reading, reflecting, and walking with me through this story.
In The Between releases July 15, 2025. Copies are available for pre-order today.
